Abstract

This article alludes to the quotas allocated to women in politics, as well as the low female participation. In this way, it seeks to analyze the provisions of current legislation that cover the topic. Therefore, even though the 1988 Federal Constitution determines equality between men and women, it is not applied as it should, as the legislation does not determine punishments in case of non-compliance. With this, it is justified given the social, political and legal importance, since the issue of female citizenship on a political level in contemporary times has reached different sectors, doing justice, actively in public life. In its structure, the trajectory of women in Brazilian politics is exposed, gender equality in Brazilian electoral law, the importance of representation and the adversities faced by gender and, finally, an analysis of party quotas for women in the legal system Brazilian and its effects. For its development, bibliographical research will be used, based on books, scientific articles, doctrines, legislation, among others.
