Cost accounting: relevance and influence on company management and assistance in business decision making

Brought with the objective of evaluating stocks, cost accounting has undergone a great evolution over time. Today, it has gained space and importance, being used as a control tool, cost reduction, analysis of results and aid in decision making. Cost accounting is a branch of accounting science, which generates information for several sectors, and extends in any branch, since it has adequate details and appropriation through costing methods. Therefore, companies need to adhere to tools that provide information for decision making, and cost accounting, through the proper classification of expenses directly interferes with the final result. Through cost analysis, companies present more definitive strategies, because it provides an overview and accurate of expenses, ensures greater visibility regarding the economic and financial aspects of the company, because through it is possible to predict the periods of higher and lower expenses in the future, allowing adjustments and planning regarding its management, besides contributing to the price formation. Representing an instrument to support business management, and acting as planning support, providing data needed decisively for the success of the company, providing economic and financial information to its users, cost accounting is the key to decision making in companies.  In this context, the study aimed to demonstrate how cost. accounting can assist in the economics of processes and also assist in decision making, through a literature review.
